Revelation

When we are in need of a medical assistance, we tend to visit a doctor. When we meet the doctor, he expects us to reveal our issue with clarity without holding any truth within. This will result in a successful examination and a desired result. Imagine if the truth is not revealed to the doctor rightly. We end up suffering. That is the impact Revelation has. When marriage is considered, spouses who reveal themselves as who they really are to their partners tend to win their trust. Such relationships are the ones that become strong and fruitful because of the revelation of strengths and weaknesses eventually. Whereas, if only the positives and strengths alone are revealed with weaknesses being hidden, one has to live a life struggling to counterfeit his/her character. This will mess up any relationship at some point. So, Revelation births out and builds a Relationship.

Any good relationship needs a proper understanding which comes only through revelations. The same goes with our relationship with our God. We need to know Him well or have the right revelation about Him in order to enjoy a fruitful relationship with Him. Jesus meets a samaritan woman and asked her for water to quench His thirst. To her, He remained a stranger that stopped her from giving Him water. “Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water”” (John 4:10). Here we can see that Jesus highlights the ignorance of the samaritan woman about the Son of God. Had she only had a revelation about who Jesus was, she would have understood her relationship with her creator and rightfully asked of Him. When you understand the depth of your relationship with someone, you exercise your rights to claim of them. A truth is being revealed out of this incident that Revelation gives you a Relationship; Relationship gives you Rights. It is the will of our God for us to enjoy our rights as His children. He wants us to know Him, relate ourselves with Him and claim our blessings from Him.

Revelation about something or someone does not come if there is a refusal to disclosure. We expect breakthroughs in many areas such as health, finance, spiritual well being and so on. But most of the time we fail to experience results owing to lack of revelation about the same. If you don’t have a revelation about what you need, it will just remain as a subject of talk. Jesus said “For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light” (Mark 4:22). He said clearly that nothing that is ought to be revealed is meant to be hidden, but to come to light.

God wants to reveal Himself to us and wants to build and cherish a relationship with us. He does not want to remain hidden or be a mystery to us. He wants to expound Himself to us as He did to His disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:27). Yet many of us are often deprived of a revelation about God or on what we need. “so that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, And hearing they may hear and not understand; Lest they should turn, And their sins be forgiven them’ ””(Mark 4:12).

Those who do not believe that their sins are forgiven, do not receive a revelation. They hear but do not perceive. Only a heart with flesh or a healed heart longs for a revelation or knows the need for it. A hardened heart which does not believe that the sins are forgiven, doesn’t have an appetite for a revelation to enjoy a relationship. A forgiven person has God revealed to Him without Whom he cannot survive. He has God as his centre of focus in everything (Coloss 3:17).

Along with a hardened heart, there is something else which can resist us from receiving a revelation. “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given” (Mark 4:23-24). Here, Jesus talks about hearing. Not with our physical but spiritual ears. Your measure matters. God can sense your appetite. Only A good measuring heart can desire for a revelation. It knows that, a Revelation about Healing brings forth healing; Financial blessing brings forth the same and so on. Where there is a lack of revelation on Healing, it cannot be experienced. The same applies for every need of us.

Knowing God makes us fruitful. Because He is the source of all our needs. He is always ready to expound Himself to us. Revelation about Him is the ultimate key to live.
